CC-TAPIS UNVEILS MARKS OF TIME, A NEW RUG COLLECTION BY ROOMS STUDIO, DURING PARIS ART WEEK 2026
During Paris Art Week 2026, cc-tapis presents Marks of Time, a new rug collection by Rooms Studio, unveiled at Cold Warm, an exhibition conceived by Nata Janberidze at Services Continu in Paris. Drawing on the traces that time leaves behind, the collection explores how familiar signs, words and gestures evolve as they move across different contexts and acquire new meanings.
Typography, handwritten letters, arrows, columns and rough drawings become the starting point for a series of rugs that translate everyday visual references into tactile surfaces. Removed from their original context and reinterpreted through the art of knotting, these marks shift between recognition and abstraction, their outlines softened by the texture of the material. Language becomes texture, handwriting becomes rhythm, and familiar forms take on a new physical presence.
Through this transformation, Marks of Time reflects on what remains, fades or repeats over time. Each rug becomes a surface where fragments of language and image overlap, preserving traces of their origins while allowing new interpretations to emerge. The result is a collection that brings together visual memory and traditional craftsmanship, exploring the relationship between the signs we leave behind and the ways in which they are perceived over time.
Presented within Cold Warm, an exhibition exploring how objects and materials carry memory, the collection enters into dialogue with furniture, textiles and fragments of interiors.
