CC-TAPIS X ANOTHER GRAMMAR OF ORNAMENT

On occasion of the salon MATTER and SHAPE, Daniel Thawley curated the exhibition Another Grammar of Ornament at India Mahdavi’s Project Room. 

The show sparked an unexpected conversation between the 19th and 21st centuries, drawing from Owen Jones' The Grammar of Ornament (1856) and Thomas Weil’s contemporary New Grammar of Ornament (2021).

cc-tapis was honoured to participate by creating a custom rug for the exhibition, a geometric and minimalist rug, tufted by hand, based on an original design by Thomas Weil.
