AMONG-US INSTALLATION BY PATRICIA URQUIOLA - HEIMTEXTIL

cc-tapis supports Patricia Urquiola’s among-us installation at Heimtextil in Frankfurt.

From January 14 to 17, 2025, Patricia Urquiola presents among-us, a 650 m² design installation in the heart of Heimtextil’s Hall 12.0. An open-plan environment dedicated to sustainable materials, conviviality and the intersection of virtual and physical worlds.

Together with cc-tapis, Patricia Urquiola has developed experimental spatial elements produced in India and three double-sided hanging carpet structures made at the company’s prototyping center in Milan, utilizing its innovative robotufting machine.  

Expanding its creative possibilities, cc-tapis experimented with this advanced robotufting system to merge new technologies and materials with Patricia Urquiola’s unique design language.  

Pushing the boundaries of traditional rug-making processes, cc-tapis recreated Patricia Urquiola’s fungus-like toy creatures on double-sided hanging carpet structures, including words, notes and quotes which spark a conversation about design, sustainability and conviviality.  

Additionally, highlighting cc-tapis' and Urquiola’s innovative take on sustainability, each structure is made with innovative Econyl® yarns supplied by Aquafil. A material which allows the production of custom pieces that can be fully recycled, with the fibers regenerated into new Nylon yarn, ensuring a sustainable and closed-loop production process.
