CC-TAPIS AT LAKE COMO DESIGN FESTIVAL 2026

CC-TAPIS JOINS FINE COMUNE, AN IDEA BY NOMADE, WITH CREATIVE DIRECTION AND EXHIBITION DESIGN BY ULTRAPRESENT STUDIO, AT LAKE COMO DESIGN FESTIVAL 2026.

At the heart of Como, the former Church of Santa Caterina once again welcomes the city as an open space for encounter, exchange and experimentation. It is here, during the Lake Como Design Festival 2026, that Fine Comune takes shape, a project conceived by Nomade, with creative direction and exhibition design by Ultrapresent Studio.

A place with a layered history — once a church, seminary, military barracks, cotton mill and, eventually, an abandoned space — it now reveals itself in its most essential form through an intervention by architect Paolo Brambilla. A restrained use of materials and an approach based on subtraction restore the former nave as a pure, open architecture, ready to accommodate new interventions.

The concept of the border as a temporary place of encounter lies at the heart of Fine Comune: a border no longer understood as a form of separation, but as a space for connection, exchange and possibility.

Within this setting, the exhibition brings together a selection of collectible design pieces represented by Movimento Gallery, Acerbis’ upholstered sofa system, and handcrafted rugs by cc-tapis, creating an open and welcoming environment where different design languages engage in dialogue with the architecture of the space.

For cc-tapis, the project features a selection of rugs from Hypercode, designed by Roberto Sironi. The collection stems from the artist’s research into the inscriptions and marks left by humankind throughout history: prehistoric carvings, mythological symbols, ancient alphabets, urban graffiti and contemporary languages converge to create a new visual code.

Like textile archives, the Hypercode rugs tell stories through symbols that transcend eras and cultures. Handcrafted on traditional Indian looms using the jacquard weaving technique, they bring together heritage craftsmanship and contemporary research, transforming the rug into a narrative surface — a palimpsest of signs waiting to be interpreted.
