CC-TAPIS COLLABORATES WITH MIMMO PALADINO ON A TAPESTRY FOR YOUTH AND FUTURE AT PALAZZO REALE

cc-tapis collaborated with Mimmo Paladino on a tapestry created for Youth and Future, the exhibition conceived by Giovanni Caccamo and hosted in the Sala delle Cariatidi at Palazzo Reale in Milan.

The tapestry draws inspiration from the flags designed by Paladino for The Ark of Change, a performance that brought together art, language, and the visions of younger generations. For the project, the artist created forty panels representing archetypes of the values and words of change expressed by young people from around the world. These were transformed into an 80-metre Gran Pavese, connecting the masts of a sailing ship and turning it into a floating work of art.

For the exhibition at Palazzo Reale, Paladino reinterpreted some of the most significant flags in a tapestry measuring 300 × 200 cm. Translating the original imagery into a textile composition, the work brings the artist’s visual language into a new material dimension, preserving the symbolic character of the flags while exploring the possibilities of the woven surface.

The tapestry was produced by cc-tapis in 100% wool, using the dhurrie technique, and proudly made in Nepal. The collaboration reflects the dialogue between contemporary art and textile craftsmanship, giving material form to a project centred on the words, ideas, and aspirations of younger generations.

Youth and Future brings together artworks by Italian and international artists, alongside photographic and video contributions, exploring the role of creativity in imagining new possibilities for the future.
