HYPERCODE BY ROBERTO SIRONI
DURING MDW25, CC-TAPIS PRESENTED ITS FIRST COLLABORATION WITH ITALIAN DESIGNER ROBERTO SIRONI IN A SITE-SPECIFIC INSTALLATION AT THEIR MILANESE HEADQUARTERS.
The exhibition offered a sensory and intellectual journey, inviting visitors to decode the intricate messages and symbols seemingly etched onto the surface of each rug. Set in a large industrial space shrouded in darkness, the immersive installation became more than a display—it fostered a dialogue between history and modernity, craftsmanship and technology, memory and reinvention. As visitors approached each piece, they engaged with the visual language created by Sironi, experiencing the narratives embedded in the artwork.
Hypercode, is the result of in-depth research into inscriptions from both ancient and contemporary cultures. By blending mythological symbols, ancient carvings, urban graffiti, and cryptic glyphs, Sironi creates a new visual language that speaks to humanity’s enduring need to leave a mark.
Inspired by traditional storytelling in rug-making, each piece communicates through layered symbols that invite interpretation. Crafted on traditional Indian handlooms using the jacquard technique, the rugs combine historical references—from Greco-Roman inscriptions to Japanese mythology and modern icons—into intricate visual codes, turning each rug into a woven archive of collective memory.
