RUDE ARTS CLUB
At Milan Design Week 2024, cc-tapis and Tacchini unveiled the Rude Arts Club, an intimate escape from trade-show hustling and bustling. A house full of unique rooms, each designed and decorated to amplify the diverse output of Faye Toogood’s most recent period of intense creativity.
The cc-tapis showroom has been completely reimagined to celebrate and showcase the combined vision of two distinctive collections. Cosmic is Toogood and Tacchini’s first collaborative collection of furniture. Rude is the third instalment of handmade rugs in Toogood’s ongoing partnership with cc-tapis.
“I didn’t want to do something expected. Rugs can end up bland. Background. Something you pile furniture on, forget about, stamp all over. I’m proposing something much bolder.”
There’s nothing neutral about Rude: Toogood’s third collaboration with cc-tapis.
A collection of sensual, sculptural rugs which bring together high craft and hijinks, pairing the designer’s restless experimentation with cc-tapis’ unmatched craftsmanship.
The mischievous motifs and provocative colours were in part inspired by Faye’s visit to an exhibition of Francis Bacon’s paintings. Suggestive shapes bump up against vivid colour, making a statement about what it personally means to inhabit a female body that is changing. “As time passes I feel connected to my body in a different way, and I see beauty and sexuality from a wildly different perspective.” – declares the British designer.
Detail of Poking Fun — Rude collection by Faye ToogoodFaye Toogood’s emotional and playful approach has inspired cc-tapis to see new possibilities within their skills and technology. Textures take on new scale. Planes of colour are developed with greater depth and complexity. And for Toogood, the collaboration has pushed the studio to rethink and redefine the objectality of a rug.
