“I didn’t want to do something expected. Rugs can end up bland. Background. Something you pile furniture on, forget about, stamp all over. I’m proposing something much bolder.”

- Faye Toogood

About the collection

There’s nothing neutral about Rude, Toogood’s third collaboration with cc-tapis. A collection of sensual, sculptural rugs bringing together high craft and hijinks. Suggestive shapes bump up against provocative colours. Textures take on new scale. Each piece was developed with greater depth and complexity, pushing Faye Toogood’s design studio to rethink and redefine the objectality of a rug.

Blending a little of the profane and a little of the profound, inspired by a visit to an exhibition of Francis Bacon, with Rude Faye Toogood makes a statement about what it means to inhabit a body. A female body that is changing. A body to which the designer feels collected from a wildly different perspective.
