CC-TAPIS VISITS MEXICO CITY WITH ENY LEE PARKER
For cc-tapis visits’ 2nd stop, we take you to Mexico City with designer and ceramicist Eny Lee Parker. We had the chance to explore the city during Mexico Art Week with local guides Studio84 and Diego Padilla Magallanes who gave us insights into the multi-faceted city, it’s local eateries and vibrant markets.
MERCADO JAMAICA
A LIVING TAPESTRY OF COLOR
Entering Mercado Jamaica is like stepping into a living canvas. Founded in the 1950’s, this iconic flower market is a labyrinth of stalls bursting with exotic flowers, vibrant color and intoxicating fragrances. Located in the heart of Mexico City, the market is alive with the gentle hum of commerce as traders barter their wares, explore over 1000 staands offering bouquets, arrangements, accessories and cut flowers. A sensory overload you won’t regret.

THE MICHELIN-STAR TACOS EL CALIFA DEL LEÓN
No visit to Mexico City is complete without tacos, and El Califa del León is a must-see stop. This now-legendary taquería, with a Michelin star to its name, is a testament to how magic can emerge from the simplest of places. Its understated façade gives no hint of the culinary delight inside, where each bite delivers an unforgettable burst of flavor.
The standout dish? A perfectly charred taco al carbón, served with nothing but a squeeze of lime. It’s the essence of simplicity done to perfection, proving that the best things often come in the humblest forms.

A TASTE OF HISTORY AT SAN ANGEL INN
San Angel Inn, nestled in the charming San Ángel neighborhood of Mexico City, is a historic gem that transports you back in time. Originally a 17th-century monastery, the building’s colonial architecture and lush surroundings set the stage for a dining experience that is both elegant and steeped in history.
The restaurant is renowned for its traditional Mexican cuisine, serving up a blend of timeless dishes that showcase the rich flavors of the country. With its beautiful courtyard, where vibrant flowers spill over stone walls, and its inviting old-world atmosphere, San Angel Inn is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking to savor Mexican culinary heritage.
