cc-tapis at Escuela del Ballet Folklórico de México
02.02.2026
For Mexico City Art Week 2026, cc-tapis returned to the city with Inner Stage, a site-specific exhibition hosted by Studio 84 at the iconic Escuela del Ballet Folklórico de México de Amalia Hernández, a cultural institution dedicated to the preservation and professional training of folkloric dance, designed by Agustín Hernández Navarro. The project brings together contemporary design and performing arts, situating the works within an immersive spatial environment where design is experienced as both material presence and emotional landscape.

Within this context, cc-tapis presented Whispers, the hand-knotted rug collection developed with Scarlett Rouge, alongside Stroke by Sabine Marcelis, both revealed in new, exclusive colorways conceived specifically for the project. Positioned within the space, the rugs invite a dialogue between domestic intimacy and sculptural form, bridging functionality, emotion, and ritual.
The exhibition also featured works by UNNO Gallery, with designers Alana Burns, Lucía Echavarría, and Andrea Vargas Dieppa, and 6:AM Glassworks, presenting 1/1/1, a sculptural series combining handblown Murano glass and Carrara marble. Together, the pieces explore how design inhabits space, mediates experience, and transforms familiar gestures into poetic, lived environments.
