Maison Matisse asked the British designer Faye Toogood to interpret a drawing of Chinese black ink on white paper from the book Dessins: Thèmes et Variations (1943) by Henri Matisse, with the result of a new expression of his exploration of color and form.

about the collection

Esquisses, Toogood’s homage to the fluidity of Henri Matisse’s intuitive gestures transmitted with simple ink on paper.

Promoting the painter’s heritage and creative world, Faye Toogood worked closely with cc-tapis to interpret Henri Matisse’s drawing with a collection of rugs which plays with shapes, geometries and neutral colors.
