Moiré
design by Objects of Common Interest
ABOUT THE COLLECTION
Moiré, the result of Objects of Common Interest’s research into the patterns existing in nature. By exploring the visual illusions inherent in the grain and fibers of wood, Eleni Petaloti and Leonidas Trampoukis create motifs resembling traditional Moiré textiles which expand in all directions on the surface of three unconventional monochromatic shapes.
“Zig-zag, Splash and Quadratic, the 3 shapes are almost like cutouts of an endless landscape, frozen moments in time, samples extracted to be studied up close”

OoCI create a deep, watery pattern combining their visual studies with the jacquard weaving technique. Used for over two centuries primarily in the production of textiles, this production method has been very rarely applied in the world of rug-making due to its complexity.
Pushing the boundaries of cc-tapis' craftsmanship, jacquard expands the company’s production capabilities combining wool and Tencel (a sustainable fiber which shines like silk) to create a dense and complex design which reveals itself through the reflection of light.
